Davor’s Limited Edition Art Prints

Many of us had a reproduction of famous paintings, i.e. Klimt’s Kiss or Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Even though many of us won’t even see with own eyes these original paintings, it is instinctive for us to wish a piece of their esthetics and beauty for ourselves. That’s why we don’t mind to buy a calendar, a poster, an agenda, etc. with these motives.

Limited Edition Art Prints are more than that. Davor’s ones still give you a direct connection with the artist because each of them are signed and issued by him. He keeps all copyrights for his art work. They are made on the basis of Davor’s original paintings, mainly oils on canvas, issued in a limited number. The price depends about the size and the frame. It is possible to purchase them without the frame too. Main advantages are that they are affordable and beautiful as Davor’s paintings.

Limited Edition Art Prints exist from ancient time, and as a technique, it requires a special knowledge that is different from the one needed to make the original painting, i.e. oil on canvas. For Davor, main issue is how to convey his oil on canvas on a special art print paper, adjust colors, keep the atmosphere, will he aim to faithfully reproduce the original or will he change it, etc. There are so many options, and Davor enjoys making prints, seeing them as a specific challenge. As he is a perfectionist, only these prints with which he is truly satisfied end up on the market.

Davor’s Limited Edition Art Prints attract attention in the galleries and on the exhibitions. Usually, Davor’s exhibitions show both oils on canvas and prints. Sometimes there are other techniques as drawings with pencil or chalk. But two months ago, in December 2014 in the US Embassy in Sarajevo, Davor had an exhibition only with his Limited Edition Art Prints. The exhibition was interesting because it was Davor’s first and only exhibition with prints exclusively. It was also interesting because one of the prints became extremely popular.  The print was called “Red Boat” as well as the original oil on canvas (60x80cm) that is now in Switzerland. It shows a motive from the island of Šolta. The red boat was particularly eye-catchy to Davor, and no wonder that it finished up on his canvas. We were a little bit surprised because in Sarajevo, it attracted attention almost as much as the original oil on canvas. It confirmed us that art prints are a special form of art with own distinctive communication and message, and deserve a special contemplation.
